Visit Taliesin West, Frank Lloyd Wright’s “Desert Laboratory”
It is located in the slopes of the McDawell Mountains in the Sonurran desert sitting a architectural jewel designed Frank Lloyd Wright. Known as Taliesin WestThe pioneering architect was considered his desert laboratory. There, he and his trainees lived and worked while continuing to design innovative structures that followed the principle of Wright for organic architecture.
It is not easy to determine organic architecture. Wright said While it is a method, it is also a way of thinking and feeling. Basically, the building should enhance the site and the structure appears naturally in its position. Taliesin West, located near Scottsdale, Arizona, represents this idea. The external appearance covered in the “desert construction”, and it consists of a local rock group related to a mixture of cement and desert sand. As a result, it takes from the rocky outside simulating the surrounding mountain landscape. But it is not completely mixed; Redwood construction tone packages for amazing effect.
Taliesin West was first built in 1937, and Wright continued to expand and change the building to finally include the drafting studio, three theaters, workshop, dining facilities, housing facilities for trainees, employees, WRIGT office and living levels. He was spending his winter in Taliesin West until his death in 1959.
Taliesin West is now the UNESCO World Heritage website and a national historical teacher. The visit is open to the audience, allowing all of us to estimate how the Wright vision mixes architectural design with the beauty of the natural scene. The site offers a variety of tours, including self -guidance, back behind the scenes, and “desert shelters”.
Eugene Kim, co -founder and editor -in -chief of My Met Met, came to visit Taliesin West. “I have long been impressed by Frank Lloyd Wright as an architect, especially with his wonderful contributions to Fallingwateer and Guggenheim New York,” he shared.
“It was an honor to visit one of his homes and studios in Taliesin West and to conduct an interview with Nikki Stewart, Vice President, Senior Learning and Participate in the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation,” Kim continues. “Nikki is a natural teacher and presented excellent visions in the mind of Frank Lloyd Wright, and I can particularly appreciate the concept of organic architecture and construction about your specific environment. Great thanks to Niki and Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation for the warm hospitality generosity in my modern dead.”
