Two brothers allegedly killed a Lyft driver and then led cops on a wild chase across state lines that ended with one of the men being run over and the other being arrested.

Tristan Bush, 26, and Ethan Bush, 23, are accused of killing 62-year-old taxi driver Lawana Lewis, who was found dead in a ditch in Westlake, Louisiana with multiple gunshot wounds early Friday morning, the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office said. He said.

The Louisiana Sheriff’s Office opened a tip line and sent out a “Be on the lookout” alert about Lewis’ missing vehicle.

That same evening, police received reports that Lewis’ car had been spotted across the Louisiana-Texas border in a Houston-area parking lot.

Harris County Sheriff’s deputies chased the stolen car, which the brothers attempted to accelerate before abandoning it and fleeing on foot.

Ethan Bush didn’t get very far.

As he was trying to cross a busy road, he was fatally struck by a car, according to the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff.

The older brother is currently awaiting extradition to Calcasieu Parish to face a second-degree charge of murdering Lewis. His bond was set at a staggering $2.5 million.

The investigation is ongoing and the Sheriff’s Office indicated that more charges are “possible.”

Tristan Bush is a repeat offender, having been arrested at least twice in Louisiana. Ethan Bush had no criminal history, according to records I reviewed KPLC.

In 2022, Tristan Bush was arrested on charges of resisting an officer. According to records, he was arrested on the same charge in 2023, in addition to resisting with force or violence.

Lois’s distraught loved ones try to remember her for who she was, rather than the “senseless crime” that took her life.
