The Snowplow finalists have been announced, and voting has opened

K Pop Blizzard Hunter, Bob Chillin’ and Don’t Flurry, Be Happy: These are three of 30 finalists announced Thursday as voting opened in the Minnesota Department of Transportation’s annual “Name the Snowplow” contest.

As shown by the names above, music is a popular topic among the finalists. There are also nods to yesteryear’s popular culture, such as Six-Sleddin and Six-Sleddin.

Politics and current events are not represented. When collecting applications earlier this winter, MnDOT said it would not consider “politically motivated” names.

30 finalists were selected from more than 6,700 entries. Voting continues online Until noon on February 13.

The top eight vote-getters will go to state snowplows across Minnesota — one in each of MnDOT’s eight counties. It’s the sixth winter the agency has run the contest.

Previous winners include Betty Whiteout, Han Snowlo, and Plow Bunyan. You can find a full list of this year’s finalists and past years’ winners below.
