The Department of Homeland Security is seeking to deport the family of Liam Conejo Ramos

The federal government has filed a request to terminate the asylum claims of Liam Conejo Ramos’ family, according to the attorney representing the family.

The Department of Homeland Security filed a request Wednesday to expedite deportation proceedings in the family’s case, said immigration attorney Danielle Moliver of the law firms of Nokocha and Operana.

A hearing is scheduled for Friday, though Moliver is asking for more time to respond. She said she thought it was a movement "My revenge."

"It’s really frustrating as a lawyer, because they keep putting new obstacles in their way. There is absolutely no reason to speed this up. It’s not very common," Moliver said.

Moliver said the federal government may not deport them to Ecuador, their country of origin. Alternatively, the family can apply for asylum in a third country.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
