The 2026 Olympics may have a second “penis gate.”

To quote Al Pacino from Any Give Sunday, life is a game of inches, and so is ski jumping.

The number of inches was at the top of the conversation during a press conference held by World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) head Witold Banka after he was asked about allegations that ski jumpers were injecting hyaluronic acid into their penises to help them go further on jumps.

German newspaper Bild First reported the claims in January, explaining that expanding the genital area allows athletes to wear slightly larger ski jump suits — allowing them to create more lift, increasing their aerodynamics and helping them add distance.

Asked about the allegations at a press conference on Thursday, Banca and World Anti-Doping Agency Director-General Oliver Negli assured people that the agency would investigate any evidence of wrongdoing.

“I’m not aware of the details of ski jumping and how it can be improved, but if anything comes to the surface we will look into anything if it is indeed doping-related,” Negli said, while trying to contain some laughter about the topic, during a press conference held on Thursday in Milan. “We do not use other means to enhance performance but our roster committee will certainly consider whether this would fall into that category. But I had never heard of that until you mentioned it.”

The report from Germany was based on “behind the scenes” conversations in the world of ski jumping and no athlete has been accused or found guilty of using the bizarre practice.

The Bild report cited comments by Dr. Kamran Karim, who said it was possible to “achieve temporary visual thickening” of the male genital area by injecting hyaluronic acid.

“Ski jumping is very popular in Poland, so I promise I will take a look at it,” said Banka, who is Polish.

While these claims may seem outlandish, ski jumping is trying to rebound after a major controversy last year that resulted in two coaches and a suit technician being suspended for 18 months with the Norwegian ski jumping team for tampering with the suits of two skiers. Marius Lindvik and Johan Andre Forfang were also suspended for three months over the scandal.

The scandal led the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) to implement new rules that came into effect ahead of this year’s Winter Olympics.
