Six years later, on the fourth of July, the lighthouse will be sweetened again through Superior Lake
Fireworks will not light up in the night sky in Mawanin, Minnesota, on the fourth of July.
For the first time in six years, the iconic light from North Shore City’s City will be sweetened 25 miles northeast of Dolotouth again via Lake Superis.
The light light became dark in November 2019 due to the failure of the devices. With the help of the American Coast Guard, four volunteer lighthouse guards at the Historic County County Association – which owns the lighthouse – have installed a temporary beacon so that the facility can continue to work as special aid to navigation on the lake.
“It is a flashing light,” said Eline Lynch, CEO of the historical association.
So the organization started collecting donations to buy a new light. She collected $ 50,000 and bought a LED beacon from a Finnish company that mimics the sweeping pattern of rotation from the original lighthouse.

Now, the historic Lake County Association for the Lighting of the New Lighthouse is planning on July 4 as part of a celebration marking the 100th anniversary of the organization, before the show of fireworks on Independence Day.
“This was a long journey for us – from collecting donations to installation – and we are incredibly proud of what our society has accomplished,” said Sam Janji, head of the Historic Community Council.
The Munin lighthouse is the oldest light that works continuously on the northern beach of the Superior Lake. It was built in 1893 (17 years before the most popular divided rock lighthouse) was built to direct ships to the iron ore sidewalks that were built in the bay of agate a decade ago.

The historical community seized the temple ownership in 1999. It runs a museum, a bed and a breakfast, and is also responsible for the American Coast Guard to keep it “special assistance to navigation.” Now this light will look like more than a century ago.
Lynch said: “The new lighthouse will return this common survey, sign our original light, and be the closest thing to the original,” Lynch said.
