Shooting at the grand opening of Nipsey Hussle’s Marathon Burger

A star-studded grand opening tied to a legacy Murdered rap icon Nipsey Hussle It descended into chaos on Sunday when gunfire exploded outside the new Marathon Burger location in Long Beach — leaving several people shot and one person dead.
The violence broke out around 3:32 p.m. near Third Street and Pine Avenue as crowds turned out for the upcoming launch of Marathon Burger, a fast-food chain founded by the Hussle family. The Long Beach Police Department confirmed that the shooting included several victims, including one person who died from his injuries.

Officials said the motive, circumstances of the shooting and suspicious information remain under investigation.
The Long Beach outpost opened in partnership with the Broadus family — including rap legend Snoop Dogg — who came out for the opening. Snoop was cheered by a large crowd of fans during the ribbon cutting, and was even seen flipping burgers in the back of the house.
