Shakur Stevenson Pushing his name into a pound-for-pound debate with a victory statement over Teofimo Lopez on Saturday night, and the arch-star born in Newark has stated his belief that there is only one active fighter at the same level.
Stevenson’s victory became the world champion of four youngest divisions in boxing history, with the 28 -year -old player having his hands on the WBO light weight world title with little or no cutting sweat.
As a result, Stevenson is now regarded as one of the best pound-for-pounds in the sport, especially given the recent frailty shown by the previously undoubted Naoya Inoue, as well as the Controversial Retirement Punt-Am-Bound Number, Terence Crawford.
However, not undoubtedly, as Inoue, Dmitry Bivol, Canelo Alvarez, Devin Haney and Artur Beterbiev, it is difficult to argue how Stevenson can sit above all of them at the sites.
Again, in an Interview with Cigar TalkStevenson revealed that he sees himself as the ‘Best Fighter on the Planet’, with the united World Heavyweight Champion Oleksandr Usyk as the only active boxer at his level.
“I’m number one, for me, the best fighter on the planet. The only other fighter I see in boxing right now I see and think (it’s at my level is) usyk, that is – the art of hit and don’t get hit at the same time – boxing.”
Battle fans are waiting for Stevenson’s next movement, as WBC lightweight champion and WBO super-light champion consider what pressure to protect his belt, or should move to welter pressure and seek world honors in fifth section.
