Former two-department world champion Roger Mayweather trained his nephew Floyd Mayweather for over a decade, but the ‘Black Mamba’ believed there was one fighter who could have threatened to ‘TBE’ unbeaten run.

Roger Mayweather caught the crown of WBA’s feathers in 1983 and claimed the WBC’s ultra-light weight title four years later, but lost the belt after four successful defenses.

In the two sections in which he reigned, Mayweather was cast out by the supreme Mexican icon, Julia César Chavez, first Losing to ‘El César Del Boxeo’ by stopping a second round of 130 lbsBefore being suspended in Round 10 of their very light reciprocal game in 1989.

Spoke previously with Hustle BossRoger Mayweather praised the legendary Troubled Conqueror, who holds the record for the most successful world victories (31) and fighting (37).

“Chávez would give *** motherf *** as problems today, just as he puts motherf *** like me problems. Remember, he was fighting the best in the world, a period. I couldn’t see anyone today that wouldn’t give a problem to.”

Roger then went on to admit his belief that Chávez would have caused problems for his nephew, which hanged the gloves with a 50-fight-free record back in 2017.

“It doesn’t matter if he fought against my nephew, that would be a tough battle too.”

Chávez retired with a record of 107-6-2 back in 2005 and since then his son, Chávez Jr., has gone on to become his own world champion.

With regard to Roger Mayweather, Unfortunately he died at the age of 58 back in 2020leaving after a legacy in the circle and in the corner that will never be forgotten.
