Ortiz jr wants Ennis & Murtazaliev: Is he mad after almost lost to Madrimov sick?
Vergil Ortiz Jr says he spoke to Turki Alalshikh about his desire to fight against Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis and Bakhram Murtazaliev.
Ortiz Jr. (23-0, 21 KOS) will have to raise his game many levels for him to have the chance of beating Ennis shoes and a younger middle weight champion IBF Murtazaliev. Both are better fighters than the last two opponents of Vergil Jr., Israil Madrimov and Serhii Bohachuk.
Madrimov Mess: What happened?
Many Ortiz fans lost to Bohachuk last August, and came close to being beaten by Madrimov in his last February fight. What many people do not know is that Madrimov is ill leading to his battle with Vergil Jr., and he still came close to beating him. He lost a narrow 12-round decision by the scores 115-113, 115-113, and 117-111.
He does not take a genius to decide that Ortiz JR would have lost to Madrimov if a former 154-weighted WBA champion were healthy for their conflict last February in Riyadh. The point I am making is that if Vergil JR barely beat sick Madrimov and it is arguable that it is beaten by Bohachuk, how can he expect to be competitive with Ennis and Muratazaliev?

I would have liked to have been a feather on the wall when Ortiz JR spoke to Turki allegedly about wanting to fight Bakhram and Boots Ennis. It’s hard to believe that Vergil JR would want to put his unbeaten record at risk against those fighters after the hard time he had against Madrimov and Bohachuk sick. Ortiz JR has a good thing going now with his unbeaten record. Why would he want to venture against two fighters who would definitely beat him?
