
Neil Young slammed on social media for taking music off Amazon because of Trump: ‘It was’
Neil Young plans to remove his entire music catalog from Amazon, because he believes founder Jeff Bezos supports President Trump.
“Forget Amazon and Whole Foods. Forget Facebook,” Young, 79, said. he wrote in an October 8 post On his Neil Young Archive website.
“Buy local. Buy direct. Bezos supports this government. It doesn’t support you or me.”
The “Heart of Gold” singer added: “(Amazon) needs you to buy from them. Don’t. They’re shutting down our government, your income, your safety, your family’s health security. Bring America back together, stop buying from big corporations and support local businesses. Do the right thing. Show who you are.”
The social media backlash to Amazon’s political exit was swift. X users were criticizing the announcement on Monday, describing the move as Young’s latest.
“Dude is crazy. It’s sad what happened to him. He used to be amazing,” @DenifLewesa wrote.
“Who buys his music anyway?” @leslieedwardsre said. “He was someone who only got attention when he pulled his music from Spotify and now from Amazon. Nobody cares if Neil Young takes his music down.”
