Los Angeles police are on high alert after US strikes on Iran

The Los Angeles Police Department will increase patrols around the city after the United States and Israel Air strikes were launched on Iran Early Saturday morning.

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass said police would be deployed in the wake of the attacks, adding that “many Angelenos are affected and deeply concerned.”

“We are closely monitoring any threats to public safety in Los Angeles amid military action in the Middle East,” Bass’ office said in a statement.

“Although there are no known credible threats at this time, LAPD has increased patrols near places of worship, community spaces and other areas of the city, and we will remain vigilant in protecting our city.”

This warning comes as demonstrators plan to take to the streets of downtown Los Angeles on Saturday to demonstrate against military action.

A group of organizations — including the Democratic Socialists of America, the National Iranian American Council, and American Muslims for Palestine — plan to rally for a “National Day of Action” at City Hall at 2 p.m.

California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services as well Issue an alert Saying that it is “closely monitoring the development of the situation in Iran and the surrounding region.”

“Our Homeland Security and Emergency Management teams are working with federal partners to prepare for any impacts here at home,” the office stated.

The heightened security measures come in the wake of a wave of demonstrations against the Iranian regime in recent months in Southern California.
