Kindergarteners Sign “Happy Birthday” To Custodian Who Is Deaf
Arrows and inclusion can take multiple forms. A wonderful example of this is the celebration of the 60th birthday of James Anthony, a goalkeeper in Hakrson Elementary in Talahma, Tennessee. But since Anthony is deaf, children have learned how to sign the song in the American sign language (ASL) for him.
Anthony, known as Mr. James for Children, worked at school for 15 years until this point. The video, dating back to 2018, shows that the guardian is clearly moving and screaming with excitement. Children’s group follows the leadership of teachers Alyssa Hartfield and Amy Herscheman, who taught kindergarten children how to sign that day on the same day.
