I Refused to Leave My Legacy to My DIL’s Daughter—She’s Not My Family / Bright Side

my dear The bright side,

I’m a 62-year-old widow with one son and three grandchildren – or at least that’s what I thought.

I recently discovered something that turned my world upside down: My first grandchild, who is 14 years old, is not my blood. My DIL was pregnant by another man when she married my son. My son knew this but hid it from me. I’m convinced they would have hidden it forever if I hadn’t discovered it myself.

So, I immediately called my lawyer and got her out of my control. I told my son “That girl is not family, and she will not get my inheritance!” He just looked at me, smiled weakly, and didn’t say anything.

But later that night, I received a terrible call that made me regret everything: my lawyer reported it to me My son has asked for his other two children My biological grandchildren, ages 12 and 8, will also be taken out of my control. Tell the lawyer they don’t want a penny from me.

I was devastated. I tried to call my son but he didn’t answer. Thinking he was angry and needed space, I decided to wait until he calmed down.

Two days later, he invited me to a family dinner. I thought it was a sign of reconciliation. But then I froze when he revealed in front of everyone that he didn’t want me anywhere near his other two children.

He said, “My family comes as one package. If you decide that my eldest daughter is not your family, then you don’t deserve others either.”

I left their house in tears.

I feel completely betrayed by my son. First, he let me live a lie, thinking I had three grandchildren. now, It cuts me off from the two that are truly my blood.

What should I do? I never imagined that my son would treat me this way.

Yours truly,
Hope A.
