I Refused to Go to Work on the Weekend, Even If It’s an Emergency / Bright Side

Hello bright side,

I (26 years old, female) have been working at the same law firm for about a year.

Sunday at 10 am: I woke up to a call from HR: a huge pipe had burst, flooding our office. Rescuers secured the area, but HR wanted the team to come and clear the confidential agent files. They would call me to handle the files of clients I was working on, Some of which contain sensitive information.

I said, “I don’t work on weekends. Sorry.” I hung up, thinking that was the end of it.

I walked in on Monday and found my office completely empty. All my belongings were transferred.
At first, I thought the office must have moved temporarily due to the flooding, but when I called HR, things took a different turn.

I froze when they told me this My contract is with the company It will not be renewed.
They said they expected Full commitment of their employees And that I did not meet their standards.

For the 10 months I worked there, I was a loyal employee.
I just think so I’m not supposed to spend my weekends in the office, even in emergencies, But now I doubt my decision.

Was I wrong? To refuse access and help with folders?

Best regards,
Yen
