I refused to leave. I told them I would be back after the weekend, just as I had planned. That wasn’t enough.
They said I was being dramatic. That my sister can’t manage without me. That a “good” family member wouldn’t need space at a time like this.
When I still refused to leave with them, my tone changed. Suddenly, I wasn’t tired, I was selfish. I wasn’t exhausted, I was irresponsible. They left angry and frankly, they ruined the rest of my trip.
