What a difference a week makes.
The Giants stunned the Eagles34-17, on “Thursday Night Football” as 3/1 underdogs and rookie quarterback Jackson Dart had a breakout performance, scoring both rushing and passing touchdowns.
Now, the Giants’ rookie is the favorite to win NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year, according to oddsmakers at BetMGM.
However, Dart isn’t the only Giants rookie getting love from sportsbooks.
No. 3 pick Abdul Carter is the favorite to win Defensive Player of the Year with +175 odds at BetMGM.
Dart opened the season at +2500 to win the award and was +650 heading into Thursday’s game.
As of Monday afternoon, Dart is -135 to win OROY ahead of Buccaneers receiver Emeka Egbuka (+210), Raiders running back Ashton Jeanty (+600) and Colts tight end Tyler Warren (+650).
Egbuka was the favorite entering Week 6, but he suffered a hamstring injury on Sunday afternoon and is expected to miss some time, according to Infograph. ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Dart’s rise has been one of the few positives for a Giants team that did not have high expectations entering the season.
The 25th overall pick earned the starting job after it was clear Russell Wilson couldn’t get it done under center for Big Blue.
He won his first game against the Chargers at MetLife Stadium and then stumbled on the road against the Saints before a thrilling win over the Eagles.
Meanwhile, Carter has been a welcome addition for the Giants on defense with the ability to play as a linebacker or rusher, even if the sacks are yet to come.
It remains to be seen whether one or both of the Giants’ rookie players will win their respective rookie titles.
