Ryan garcia About to challenge for the World Welter weight title in two weeks, but there is one former 147 lbs former world champion who thinks he will be able to ‘eat as a tack’ tick if they meet down the line.
Famously, Devin Haney’s ‘King Ry’ in April 2024 defeated, only that the best victory of his career was overturned to competition non-competition because Ostarine was discovered in his system.
Have a one year banGarcia returned last May in a battle for the weight title of a empty WBA welter against Rolando Romero, but although he came in as the favorite, Garcia was short of expectations and came away from the competition blank.
Now, Garcia has yet another shot to welter weight honors, as the 27 -year -old tries to get back on track and move on from a few difficult years by overcoming the WLGC champion, Mario Barrios, to set up large title contests in a stacking welter weight section.
However, in an Interview with Fight Hub TVFormer weight manager United Keith Thurman played the quality of the 147 lbs scene and claimed he would eat all of the best players at the weight ‘like Tic Tax’.
“You consider it (Garcia} as a welterweight river? You think Ryan has a greater punch than an Ennis?
“He drops light weight, he hasn’t fought a real welter weight. Is there even a real welter weight in the welter weight section? I think Conor Benn is the only real welter weight left at 147 lbs. This new welter weight game is a light weight moving up.
“There is no 147lber at 147 and, with that, I can’t give Ryan a credit (like a thresher) you are trying to give him.”
“I could eat them all up like a tick.”
Barrios-Garcia will be held on Saturday, February 21, at the T-Mobile Arena, while Thurman applies for the crown of ultra-bedweight CLC Sebastian Fundora on March 28.
