Edgar Berlanga labeled “One Note Fighter” in front of Hamzah Sheeraz Fighting

Boxing analyst Shawn Porter refuses Edgar Berlanga as a “One Note Fighter” Entering his mid -weight title Super CLC Eliminator against Hamzah Sheraz on July 12th onwards Dazn ppv. Porter chooses the Underdog Sheeraz (21-0-1, 17 kos) to pull the agitation against the favorite Berlanga (23-1, 18 kos) in their 12-round kneeler at Louis Armstrong Stadium.

Berlanga style: Porter’s view

Porter sees Berlanga as a limited fighter, and believes Sheeraz will have too much ability to deal with him in this fight. Shawn seems to have formed his view of Edgar from his loss to Canelo Alvarez in 2024, where he changed his usual fighting style and chose boxing.

He may not have seen Berlanga’s next fight when he returned to his brawl roots and destroyed Jonathan Gonzalez-Ortiz in a first-round tour last March. That was Berlanga fighting the way it is always, and it looked like pure 24K gold.

Many are riding on the July 12th battle for Berlanga and Hamzah. The winner will be in a position to fight Canelo next February. While Turki Alalshikh mentioned that Sheeraz and winner Chris Eubank Jr. vs Conor Benn 2 mentioned as one running in the Canelo Sweepstakes, Berlanga could put herself in the slot with the highlight of Sheeraz.

“He’s a very one note fighter. He looks for the perfect punch. If that perfect punch isn’t there, he doesn’t do much to set up anything else,” Shawn Porter told the Ring magazine channel. “Sheeraz is a very good boxer.”

What Porter is trying to say is that Berlanga uploads on his shots, looking for a beat with each punch. With his power, is the logical thing to do, because we saw in his fight against Canelo Alvarez that he was less effective when he is boxing.

The return of berlanga brawl overlooked

In that fighting, Berlanga steered away from moisturizing and desperately falling behind. When he finally returned to his aggressive style, tried and destroyed in the 12th, Canelo bombed with shots.

What he saw fans is that if Edgar had fought that way in the whole way, he would either have cast out or won a clear decision. The Mexico could not all be in the output of Belanga power and punching in the 12th, and would have been so if it had started earlier.

“He showed himself well against (Carlos) Adames. So I got Sheeraz winning that one. I think Sheeraz is going to achieve him. I have a respect for Berlanga now that I didn’t have before,” said Porter.

Adames Porter’s analysis was questioned

It sounds like Porter did not watch Sheeraz’s battle against the WTG’s middleweight champion CLC Carlos Adames last February. Hamzah did not show “himself well” in that fight. On the contrary, it was ill throughout, being put in place in the entire battle by Adames.

The judges scored a 12 -round draw for him, but the boxing world considered him a clear victory for Adames. I watched the fight and had Adames winning 11-1. You can argue that Adames should have won 12-0, as there were no rounds that Sheeraz seemed to win.
