David Benavidez suspects Crawford movement to 168 lbs for Fighting Canelo: “Weight Classes for a Reason”

David Benavidez says he does not like the idea of Terence Crawford moving up three pressure classes to challenge Canelo Alvarez for his undoubted middle weight championship on September 13th. Benavidez notes that “weight classes for a reason,” and believes it could be too much for Crawford (41-0, 31 KOS).

Benavidez makes a good point. Basically, Crawford moves up three weight classes to challenge Canelo in 168. He does it without a tune to summarize himself, which is a careless thing for him to do.

Crawford already showed that he had reached his highest limit when he moved up to 154, and labored to a suspicious victory of a unanimous 12 -round decision over WBA’s junior mid -weight champion Israil Madrimov last August. The size and power of Madrimov had bothered Crawford in that fight, and it is arguably lost.
