Crawford Camp fired back: Davis calls Ennis “average”

Terence Crawford coach Bernie Davis went in to melt for Jaron’s ‘Boots’ Ennis victory over Uisma Lima last Saturday night, dismissing the victory by saying, “Who is she against? I have never heard of the guy.” He seemed very upset about him.

Is jealousy creeping into the Crawford team?

It almost sounds that Bernie was jealous of how impressive Ennis looked, which was light years better than the typical Crawford performance. He never looked so in his career. Ennis took some of the shining away from a recent Bud victory with that annihilation of Lima.

The way Bernie was worked up, he seemed to be bothered by the praise that Ennis has been receiving from the boxing world following his first round of Lima (14-2, 10 kos) in Philadelphia.

Ennis’s victory over Lima has shadowed Razor-Close Crawford’s victory over Canelo Alvarez on September 13th. Ennis ennis made a lima rifle with shots, dropping it twice before finishing it with a storm of power shots. That performance left fans in place. No one does so at the highest level at 154, 160, or 168.

In contrast, Bud ran around the ring most of the night against Alvarez, trying not to be hit, and rarely winning a unanimous 12-round decision by the 115-113, 115-113 scores, 116-112.

Bernie: “Boots are an ordinary boxer”

“What is he doing so skilled? Crawford is a guy who can go up and hang with anyone you can see because of the way his skill set. He beats all these different boys with skills,” said Bernie.

The way Ennis has looked in his last two fights against Uisma Lima and Eimantas Stanionis, it seems better than Crawford in the Skills Department. During Terence’s career, he has never looked as impressive as ‘Boots’ are in his last two fights.

Compare how Bud looked in his last two battles against Canelo Alvarez and Israil Madrimov with the performances that Ennis turned in against Lima and Stanionis. It’s like night and day. Crawford had trouble fighting him with Madrimov and Canelo.

In the eyes of many fans, Madrimov beat Crawford. Israil landed the harder, cleaner shots in each round of the fighting. Now, if that were ‘shoes’ that fought Madrimov, I can illustrate him as a similar fight with his bouts against Lima and Stanionis.
