A Virginia road rage incident turns deadly with a mass stabbing on I-495

At least two people died on Sunday in Virginia When a highway “road rage incident” turns violent MassacreOfficials said.
The attack happened on southbound I-495 near the Little River Turnpike in Annandale, Fairfax County, about 30 minutes from Washington, DC.
One of the four stabbing victims, as well as a dog, died in the incident, officials said. Then the suspect also died Responding Officers returned fire.
The attack does not appear to be terror-related, officials said.

Virginia State Police said Virginia State Police troopers were called to the scene of a road rage incident at 1:17 p.m.
In a statement to Fox News Digital, the officials added, “The strike occurred before or just before the military responded.”
While responding, police found a male suspect armed with a knife. During the confrontation, the trooper shot the suspect in self-defense. Officials added that the responding soldier remained unharmed.
State police identified the deceased victim as a 39-year-old woman who died. The dog involved was also fatally stabbed.

The highway was closed due to reports of heavy police presence due to the incident.
“The I-495 and 495 express lanes are closed southbound on Gallows Road due to a major incident,” the Virginia Department of Transportation’s Northern Virginia office said, adding that “lanes are blocked due to police activity.”

The accident is under investigation.
The Fairfax County Police Department told Fox News Digital they are assisting state police forces.
