A career criminal is finally locked up in New York City after allegedly raping a teenager – as shocking new details emerge

A career criminal who has been in and out of court-ordered counseling programs was finally taken off the streets of the Big Apple this week — as prosecutors revealed troubling new details about his alleged Rape of a teenage girl Which ultimately led to his imprisonment.

Jermaine Barham, 33 years old He was ordered held without bail on rape, robbery and sexual assault charges late Wednesday for the “violent and brazen” attack on a 14-year-old girl in Manhattan’s Stuytown Village on January 29 — in which prosecutors revealed he threatened to kill the girl while brutalizing her.

“The defendant followed her into the building, physically forced her up the stairs and sexually assaulted her, all while holding a knife and threatening to kill her,” prosecutor Joseph Goldstein told the court.

Parham allegedly entered the tenants-only building by “carrying” a resident who entered the building with a key card — and sneaked inside by closely following the woman before closing the front door.

His first break came after his arrest for theft in April 2024, when he was ordered to join a program and remained free despite being issued arrest warrants three times for failure to appear.

In March 2025, he pleaded guilty to petit larceny and was sent to another program, taking him five months to complete one session, according to sources.

He was arrested again on January 8 for allegedly stealing $1,835 worth of merchandise from a CVS outlet, and was placed in another program during his trial — skipping that program as well, resulting in an open warrant for his arrest when he was charged with rape.
