Ten others were treated in hospital. Their identities were not revealed.

Among the victims were recent graduates of Leland High School who had returned for a popular annual reunion at the school’s homecoming football game.

Witness Jennifer Buckner, who was enjoying the party with her niece and some friends, recalled the shooting coming out of nowhere.

The first round was a few quick hits that didn’t completely disrupt the party, but it resumed several minutes later and it descended into chaos.

“It was probably 10 minutes of consistent, constant, automatic shots being fired… and it went on for a long time. And people just started running,” Buckner told The Washington Post.

The FBI said the shooting appeared to have “resulted from a dispute between several individuals,” but did not reveal the exact motive for the massacre.

Two more people were killed in separate shootings during a football game on the east side of the state in Heidelberg on Friday night.
